Review - Ignite Me

Ignite Me (Shatter Me, #3)Synopsis

The heart-stopping conclusion to the New York Times bestselling Shatter Me series, which Ransom Riggs, bestselling author of Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children, called "a thrilling, high-stakes saga of self-discovery and forbidden love"

Juliette now knows she may be the only one who can stop the Reestablishment. But to take them down, she'll need the help of the one person she never thought she could trust: Warner. And as they work together, Juliette will discover that everything she thought she knew-about Warner, her abilities, and even Adam-was wrong.

Why this book?

Well, I was really curious about Ignite Me because Shatter me is my most favourite series ever. Let's face it - the end of Unravel Me? Tahereh Mafi showed me she could be potentially one of my Top 3 Authors. Who, of course, are not afraid of "big endings". Yeah and I was really curious about Adam after reading Fracture me. Will he behave still like idiot or will he get wiser this time?

Well, there is no Czech cover but I don't really mind. I adore original cover. I find it completely stunning and it's one of the most beautiful covers I've ever seen. I am really looking forward to have this book home in my bookshelf. Shame on me, but I found out about bird in that eye few days ago. And Australian cover? I don't know. I don't like it, I think. That's not that bad but I don't like that cover girl with strange violet light. I am so sorry, Australia.

Review

Untitled
Juliette is not that broken girl which was imprisoned by The Reestablishment anymore. After being shot by Anderson, Juliette was saved by Warner. Now she is ready for revenge. Omega Point was destroyed and there are only few survivors left. And yeah, Juliette doesn't know, of course. There's only one person she can co-operate with - her oppresor and enemy - Warner, son of the man who almost killed her. Juliette has nothing to lose and her blood is calling for revenge - and so does her rising power. She left fear behind her with only one goal - to kill Anderson.

“You deserve so much more than charity," he said, his chest heaving. "You deserve to live, You deserve to be alive.”

Ignite me is third and final part of Shatter me series written by American author Tahereh Mafi. The book is written in Juliette's POV again (there are two exceptions - Destroy me, written in Warner's POV and Fracture me, written in Adam's POV). In fact, Ignite Me is quite different from the other two books. There is no crossed writing which attracted a lot of readers. It's influenced by main character's growing up. Juliette is finally ready to fight and that's main point of story. Ignite Me runs slower than breathtaking Unravel Me. It's oriented on relationships between characters. Short chapters are really big advantage - the story is more thrilling because of them and reader is impatient to read the end of story. Tahereh Mafi is really good narrator who is not scared by doing big moves. And here is the difference - even though Shatter Me tells story about kids with supernatural powers, the story is kinda different and unique - and that makes Ignite Me so special.

“I'm not trying to fix you; I don't think you need to be fixed. I'm not trying to turn out into someone else. I only want you to be who you already are. Because I think I know the real you. I think I've seen him."

These books....
This series is well known for its love triangle - many people don't like Shatter me because of that. Well, there's another main character who lost her head for two sexy guys. That's true, on the first sight. But let's be honest - it's not fair to judge book by its first part, is it? Don't be impatient and wait till Ignite Me. I promise, nothing is what it seems like. That's big advantage and I really love Tahereh for this twist. She just destroys all of your thoughts about characters and what just happened. Now let's talk about characters.

The main character grew up the most. You should definitely remember that shy psychopath Juliette from Shatter Me who was almost afraid of her own shadow. This Juliette is gone. In Ignite Me, there is new kick-ass heroine who will fight for everybody she loves. When I think about it, Juliette's growing up is one of the things which fascinates me most. I didn't like J. in first book because I didn't really understand her. But after everything that Juliette went through... I really admire her. She is just amazing heroine. We also find out more about relationship between Adam and Warner. Yeah, that love triangle. Tell me everything you want but Adam is just an idiot. After reading Fracture Me and also Ignite Me, we'll see Adam's real nature - but there are also few funny scenes. Adam should be proud - he acts like hysterical woman. After all, there is myth called Warner. Cruel monster who is hated and many people don't want to accept him. I don't want to spoiler but that's not true. Nothing about Warnie is true. Absolutely.

"I know I am an extremely attractive man, J, but I am not Bruce Lee."

"Who's Bruce Lee?"

"Who's Bruce Lee?" Kenji asks, horrified. "Oh my God. We can't even be friends anymore."
"Why? Was he a friend of yours?"

Many authors don't really care about other characters. That's not Tahereh's case. I was really satisfied about Kenji who is one of my most favourite characters at all. Finally! His funny quotes are really extraordinary. I loved his friendship with Juliette. I didn't mind their long dialogs - that was worth it.

Untitled | via TumblrAnd what should I tell about the end? I was really impressed and surprised. Well, I kinda thought about this end but honestly, I was happy for it. I know there will be haters who will fight against me. But do you know what? I don't care! It would be nice if author showed us more of Reestablishment and that dystopian world where the storyline is located..But it doesn't matter cause Shatter Me Series isn't about this. Ransom Riggs said it's about self-knowledge.

I would recommend Ignite me (Shatter Me series) to all lovers of paranormal stories set up in dystopian world. Readers are not happy about similarity with X-Men. And so what? Let's have a question. What's wrong about this? X-men are in comics and in the movies and there are also many other superheroes. And nobody really cares. So why not having "superheroes" in book world? Why not? Ignite Me offers original story about pain and self-knowledge and also Kenji's funny quotes and one sexy blond boy "without heart" who will kick your ass. Give him chance, please please please.
